We've been looking for a southern plantation to visit. We went to Boone Hall, paid our money to get in and then found out it was a 320 year old plantation but the house was built in 1935 by a Canadian to look like what he thought a plantation house should look like. It was still an interesting visit.

What a bit of a bummer for sure, and to not find out until you have already paid. I think one of the funniest pieces you said was that a Canadian built the house... pretty far from the south!
