Other things seen in South Dakota include Mt Rushmore, the badlands and Pierre. We then arrived in Minnesota, where we will be staying for a while so you may not hear from us.
While going through South Dakota we visited the area where my great grandfather homesteaded, Caputa. We saw the kind of houses, sod houses, that they, according to family history, lived in.
One of the things we have been doing on our trip is making contact with relatives we haven't seen in a while. While on the west coast I saw several cousins that I hadn't seen in 30-40 years. You don't know what it is going to be like seeing somebody you haven't seen for that long. But it was great, we had a lot of fun talking about things that happened when we were kids and catching up on what has happened in our lives. Here are three of them:
Our first stop going east from Seattle was the town of Leavenworth. They have remade their town into a Bavarian village. There are a lot of shops etc. as well as five German restaurants. As we were only going to be there for one night we couldn't eat in all of them but we drank in all and ate in one. Still none of them came close to the Bavarian Grill and the accordion player was definitely not an Alan, but we had a lot of fun.
